Fairly common in hardwood and mixed woodlands at low to middle elevations throughout forested parts of four-county area, especially along brushy riparian corridors. In Kittitas County, absent from Columbia Plateau below ponderosa pine zone. Extirpated in deforested landscapes of Puget Trough, although does well in regenerating clearcuts.
