Recorded only at high elevations, with most records from subalpine zone. Prefers drier forests, where uses small forest openings such as wooded marshes and swamps. Local and uncommon in King County, but records slightly more widespread than predicted range mapped by Washington Gap report (Smith et al. 1997). Fairly common locally in Kittitas County, with highest density from Naneum Ridge in eastern Wenatchee Mountains.
