Williamson's Sapsucker
Sphyrapicus
thyroideus
Uncommon in Kittitas County from moderate to relatively high elevations in stands of mature pine, Douglas-fir, larch, and quaking aspen. Records concentrated in two areas separated by Yakima River Valley: eastern Wenatchee Mountains from upper Teanaway drainage to Colockum Pass, and in south county around Manastash Ridge. Mapped BBA distribution nicely corroborates that predicted by Washington Gap report (Smith et al. 1997).
