Breeds colonially on gravel islands in lakes and rivers on Columbia Plateau. One "confirmed" nesting site in our area, below Wanapum Dam on Columbia River. During post-breeding dispersal beginning in June, California Gulls migrate west across Snoqualmie Pass and other mountain passes and gather along shores of Puget Sound.
